At the meeting, your child’s teacher will provide you with an overview of their academic progress and also their behaviour and attendance. Be advised that interim reports will not be sent home in Terms 1 and 3, so don’t miss this opportunity to talk with your child’s teacher.

What's Happening in our Classrooms
What's new in Prep A
We have had a very good start to our first year. We have been learning about living things in Science and we have been lucky enough to see caterpillars hatch out of moth eggs and a butterfly emerge from a chrysalis. It was so exciting to be able to let the butterfly go and watch it fly into the flowers. We have also been on the lookout for living things when we have outside play with Prep C.
We have started doing some Buddy Reading with a Year 6 class and have had them visit us once so far.
In our classroom, we have been engaged in lots of hands-on Maths and Literacy activities and are enjoying the various investigations that are set up around the classroom. We look forward to many more exciting adventures in Prep A.

Congratulations to 5A who had an amazing attendance rate for Week 6. Their attendance rate was 98% for the week! Also, congratulations to the 15 classes who were at or above our school attendance target of 94% for Week 6. Remember, every day you are away is a learning day lost.
Weekly Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
The Positive Behaviour for Learning lesson for week seven is on Safe: Bikes and Scooters. Many of our kids travel to school using bikes and scooters which is why it is important that we constantly revise the safe procedures we insist upon to ensure your child is safe travelling to and from school. These include:
- Dismounting from our bike or scooter at the fence of the pool;
- Walking with our bike or scooter;
- Staying on the inside of the yellow line to ensure there is a substantial gap between the student and cars in the ‘Stop, Drop, Go’ zone;
- Securing our bike or scooter at the bike racks;
- Removing ourselves from the bike racks once our bike or scooter has been sorted.
Please take a moment to go over this with your child/children.
Just a reminder that the end of term rewards day will be a trip to Bunting Park in week 10 for those students who display good behaviour throughout the term. We look forward to seeing your child at the event.
Lastly, Fantastic Fun Friday was on last week and the theme was ‘Make your own ice cream sundae.’ Below are some pictures from the event.

Enjoy your week.
Thanks,

Fundraising and Events
Disco: Thursday 19 March is our first school disco of the year; time to dust of those dancing shoes, deck yourself out in green and dance the night away like a leprechaun on St Paddy’s day. We will be looking for volunteers to help with our disco. Please contact us if you are interested in helping.
Easter Raffle: Chocolate, who doesn’t love chocolate? As we do every year, we will be holding an Easter raffle to be drawn on the end of term parade. For this raffle we ask our families to make a small donation of items towards our hampers. Please find our collection hampers in the office.

Tuckshop
We are getting busier and busier in the tuckshop, meaning our awesome convenor Lisa needs a hand. As with all of our P&C events and operations, the tuckshop is always looking for volunteers. EXPECT THE BEST
“ATTITUDE IS A LITTLE THING
THAT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE”
You know when you grasp and understand this concept, it can be life-changing! I had to smile when I read this next story I am about to share, as the Calliope students often hear me telling this (illustrated by my two stuffed dogs – one black & one white).
(Taken from - ‘The Power of Attitude’ by Mac Anderson)
A native American boy was talking with his grandfather. “What do you think about the world situation?” he asked. The grandfather replied, “I feel like wolves are fighting in my heart. One is full of anger and hatred; the other is full of love, forgiveness and peace.” “Which one will win?” asked the boy. To which the grandfather replied, “The one I feed.” (Origin Unknown)
This simple story provides the essence of a life-changing law of the universe…
You become what you think about!
The words are almost too simple to ‘feel important’. However, if you ‘get it’, if you truly understand their meaning, you can forever harness the power of a positive attitude. Simply stated… If we choose to think positive thoughts, we’ll get positive results; if we think negative thoughts, we’ll get negative results.
Pretend for a moment that every thought is a seed you sow in your fertile mind. Therefore, as I once heard someone say, “If you plant crabapples, don’t expect to harvest Golden Delicious Apples.” You will reap the fruit of the thoughts you sow.
Take ‘Every thought Captive’ … You may be surprised and find that you are no longer held in captivity … but are actually found ‘Captivating’ by others around you!
Get rid of your ‘Stinking thinking’, hit the refresh button and have an awesome week.
Don’t forget Café Connect is on this Thursday 12 March (held at school near the 3 pencils)
