Term 3 Week 3
Our Year Six students have settled well into their camp this week. The P&C Pizza Day was a great success for all our P-3 students who participated. Port Curtis Athletics is this Tuesday and Wednesday. We wish all our athletes all the best as they complete at this carnival.
You’re Invited – Morning Tea
All parents/caregivers are invited to a morning tea after assembly in Week Four. We are putting on a morning tea to encourage more parents and caregivers to respond to our school opinion survey. Bring your phone along (with the email) and sit, have a chat with some morning tea and respond to the school opinion survey. Please RSVP to admin@calliopess.eq.edu.au if you would like to attend for catering purposes.
Help Shape our School – complete the School Opinion Survey
This year’s School Opinion Survey runs from 28 July to 22 August. Parents, carers, students in selected year levels, and staff have been emailed a link to participate. Your feedback will help us understand our school’s strengths and areas for improvement. Survey responses are confidential. Find out more on the School Opinion Survey webpage or contact school administration.
As a school we use the School Opinion Survey Data to shape our Annual Implementation Plan. We need to know what we are doing well and what we need to work more on, so that our focus is on the right work to create the best learning environment for your children. Please take the time to complete this survey. In 2024 only 20.3% of our parents and Caregivers participated in the survey. Only 70 parents/caregivers opinions contributed towards the work we are focussed on.
You should now have your invitation. Please watch out for this email. The survey is now open.
No parade this week
There will be no parade this Friday morning, as our Year 6 leaders are attending camp. We look forward to seeing you all in Week 4, when we present our Semester Two Rotakids with their current certificates and badges.

This week we are focusing on Mindfulness.
Whole Class Stamp Charts
Congratulations to Prep B, 1C and 5B! Your incredible efforts have filled your Whole Class Stamp Charts—well done!
We’re introducing a new way to celebrate the whole school: instead of fixing a deadline, we’ll now hold a Whole School Celebration every time 20 class stamp charts are completed. That means each class can continue collecting stamps at their own pace—no rush, just success. This softer timeline allows every class to work towards their goal without pressure and ensures celebrations feel earned. It’s all about consistency, teamwork and giving each class the chance to shine! Stamp or sticker charts are a proven positive reinforcement tool. As children see their chart filling, they gain motivation and a clear visual of their progress—boosting engagement and supporting positive behaviour growth in the classroom.
The Biggest Catch
It’s our way of celebrating how many stamp charts each class completes. Think of each filled chart as a part of a fish—the more completed charts, the bigger the fish will be. At Calliope State School we all swim together.
Last Monday and Tuesday, our Calliope SS students participated in the CQ Regional Shield Carnival with our CSS Netball Team and CSS Rugby League Team.
What an awesome two days of sport was had. Calliope kids once again were stand-outs for their team spirit and sportsmanship. It was a fun two days of competition, and our achievements were impressive. Our rugby league team came in 3rd place out of twenty teams and our netball team 10th out of 31 teams. Go Calliope!
A huge thank you to Rushy for “co” coaching our Rugby League team. We appreciate all the time and energy you put in. Thank you to our little tee runner Nixon whose enthusiasm and energy were steadfast. Thank you to Kyson’s big brother Declan for being our water runner and bringing good energy on the field. And thank you to the parents, Mrs Betts was very grateful for all the support.
This year our netball team showcased our new Calliope netball uniforms. The girls looked great! Thank you to Black Chrome uniforms for being so helpful and creative in designing our uniforms and donating a set of bibs.
Thank you to the organisers of CQ Regional Shield for another year of sporting fun and great competition!
Congratulations to the winning class 2A who had an amazing attendance rate for Week 2. Their attendance rate was 94.16% for the week!
Remember, every day you are away is a learning day lost. The school goal is to reach 94% or higher.
