Dear Parents/Caregivers
Half way through the term and I am enjoying the great teaching and learning in the classrooms.
Currently my presence is:
- On the ovals from 8:40am onwards
- Near the bridge at second half of each break time, or somewhere close, for students to be able to seek support if they have an issue
- Doing a lap of the classrooms nearly all days of the week
- Out the front of the school most afternoons, meetings permitting
My work is not to guarantee zero issues (however, we do work towards that goal) because school is about risk management so that students have a chance to socialise and interact. We aim to prevent as many issues as we can, and step out reasonably any issues that happen. My need is for everyone to understand there will always be differing perspectives on student conduct and management, however, we aim to maximum risk management with keeping the ability to have students socialise, interact and play with one another, and use our student code of conduct as consistently as possible.
Thanks for taking the time to read my article.

This term 3A have been working hard on their fractions!
We have learnt all about wholes, halves and quarters and have used playdough and other hands on materials.
We have been working so hard that Miss McQuillan has decided that later in the term will finish off our learning with making pizzas!
We have also been focusing on giving out appropriate directions. We were able to use the beebots to show our hard work and challenge our classmates!
Welcome to Week 5!
This week's PBL focus is ‘Wearing Hats and Shoes’.
The lesson focuses on students wearing their hats and shoes when outside and in the playground. Please discuss this with your child.

Wide World of Sports with Mrs Betts!
A huge congratulations to our Year 6 student Georgia for getting selected in the Capricorn Stars netball team for 2023. It’s an awesome feat to be selected from a large pool of talented players. Georgia is very excited and looking forward to all the new skills she will learn.

Toyworld Cup Soccer Update
Due to wet weather, we had a late start to our soccer competition. The boys have played two matches against West and St Johns. They won against West and lost against St Johns. They are playing strong as a team and are confident they will make finals.
The girls’ soccer team have had one game so far. They versed St Francis who was their rival team in the finals last year. It was an intense game with the girls scoring the first goal in the first half and then St Francis scoring a matching goal in the second half.

Tuckshop News
We need you!!! Miss Lisa can always use an extra set of hands or two each tuckshop day to make sure your kids get their food as quickly as possible at break times. Friday is Miss Lisa’s busiest day; it is always a rush to get your child’s food ready and packed on time so an extra pair of hands would be appreciated. If you’d like to lend a hand, please contact Miss Lisa via our Facebook page or pandc@calliopess.eq.edu.au
Parents are reminded that ice creams and ice blocks need to be collected from the tuckshop by the students with their paper bags. Without your help, the tuckshop will not be able to continue to run as it does.

Volunteer Reminder
I would like to take this moment to remind everyone that we are volunteers, we are parents, we are employed by other organisations or companies, and that, unfortunately, although it would be amazing, we do not have endless hours in the day. Please, when contacting us be patient, be polite and be kind. We know it may be frustrating not getting a response straight away however please understand you are not being ignored, we just may be busy and will get to it as soon as possible. If you would like to help lighten the load and volunteer, please reach out we would love to have you on board. As a group of volunteers, we understand how difficult it is to find time for everyday life, let alone adding fundraising events to the calendar, so thank you for sparing some time to help us work towards providing funding for the children of our school.
Please don’t hesitate to stop us and say hi and ask questions.
Your P&C Team,
Tenielle, Kate, Bec & Geoff.
