· Team Calliope Cool Conveyors- Robot Games Award
· Team Cargo Beep Beep - Runners Up Champion‘s Award
These three teams have now been invited to attend the National Competition to be held in Brisbane on 4 December.
A huge thank you must be extended to Mrs Sellin, Mrs Wilkinson, Mrs Mastromonaco and Ms Crookey for all your work and extra hours as coaches. They have given up their time after school and on weekends to support the student’s in building the knowledge and skills that have awarded them such wonderful results.
The student’s will be presented with awards on Parade this coming Friday, November 12.

SCHOOL UNIFORM – DRESS CODE
We have a number of students wearing the incorrect socks to school currently. Our CSS Dress Code clearly stipulates that students are to wear short white or black socks. Please expect contact from your child/ren’s teacher if they are wearing the incorrect socks to school.
CALLIOPE CHRISTMAS CAROLS 2021 – DATE CLAIMER
The Calliope Carols are back on this year, after a break due to COVID restrictions. They will be held on Friday November 26 (Week 8). As in previous years, each year level is learning a song, which they will perform on stage as part of the concert.
It has been noted that the date also coincides with the return of the Year 6 students from their camp. We understand that this will be the end of a big week for these students but we hope that as many as possible will still attend the carols event and perform, as this will be their last carols event before they go to high school.
We hope to see everyone there!
CALLIOPE STATE HIGH SCHOOL ORIENTATION DAYS
All Year 6 students wishing to attend Orientation Days, (November 29 and 30) will need to have returned enrolment packs and attended an enrolment interview – we don’t want to see anyone miss out!

Congratulations to 6C who had an amazing attendance rate for Week 5. Their attendance rate was 98.2% for the week !
Also congratulations to the 5 classes which were at or above our school attendance target of 94% for Week 5.
Remember, every day you are away is a learning day lost.
Welcome to Week 6!!
This week's focus for Week 6 is : Expectations when playing in the hall
This week's lesson will go over the expectations that must be followed during play breaks in our Multipurpose Hall to keep all students safe.
Our FFF celebration has been postponed this week due to the weather. It will be ‘Water Play’ and will take place on the grassed area in front of the undercroft. Every cohort has a first break session next week to celebrate their positive behaviours and the table is below. Please ensure your children bring along clothes to get wet in and a towel. Sunscreen will be available for all students in classrooms before the break starts. All invited students can bring along a water gun or similar to join in on the fun. These items must be signed in to their classroom in the morning and will be returned in the afternoon.

Another opportunity for you to participate in over the next 5 weeks could be helping to thank our staff to a well-deserved brunch for all their hard work. The Brave Box located in my office helps kids to prevent mental health issues by teaching them to think about what they are thinking about. Instead of storing too many thoughts in their mind (which can weigh us down) we are encouraging kids to write them down and put them in the BRAVE Box. As a parent or carer, you too can encourage kids to write down all those thoughts racing through their heads. Our world is such a busy place and with all the new digital technologies available to us we can sometimes forget to take care of our mental health. But just like we need to empty our rubbish bins we also need to detox our mind and relieve it from all those thoughts. When we have a clearer mind, it helps us to concentrate on the things that are important. Remember, don’t overload your mind! One way I love to detox my mind is by writing it all down on a Microsoft word document and deleting it! Then no one can find my secrets LOL and my mind is a lot clearer.
Our Seasons for Growth program is progressing well. Kids are beginning to learn that change always happens and sometimes we are not in control of those changes. Last week we learnt that change can affect us in a positive or negative way and the kids showed immense courage by sharing their stories of change with their peers. Even though everyone’s story was different they all shared something in common and that was they lost something important to them. This week we will continue to unpack those stories and learn how to adjust to those changes that are unexpected and not always welcome. This program is helping kids to understand they aren’t alone in their experiences and that they have others to support them.
Have a great week!!

Next General Meeting: TONIGHT Tuesday November 9th at 6pm in the Conference Room. Please come to a meeting as we round up this year and prepare for 2022. We are always eager to see some new faces and hear new ideas for the direction of our P&C.
With half of our Executive team currently living outside of Calliope and others having work, family and life commitments, we need all hands on deck to run meetings and organise events. Please contact us if you can lend a hand.
2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year with big events under development already. We are going to require more members to smash our goals. Please consider becoming a member in 2022. No, you don’t need to attend every meeting or help at every event. You will be a voice for your kids though, which is very important to help support their lives at school.
