Hi Guys!
Only 5 more weeks until School Holidays!
Are you taking every opportunity made available to you? Don’t forget I am here on Monday’s, Tuesdays and Friday’s this term if you would like to access our Chaplain services to support your family. Our services can be utilised by contacting the office or you can email me at sjarm17@eq.edu.au
Another opportunity for you to participate in over the next 5 weeks could be helping to thank our staff to a well-deserved brunch for all their hard work. Last time we had some amazing contributions from the community and this time because we are so close to Christmas I was thinking we could do a Christmas themed brunch. If you have any delicious Christmas treats you would like to share with the staff please email me at sjarm17@eq.edu.au to let me know what you would like to donate so we don’t over cater. Please bring it into the office before 10.30am on the –
Next Brunch - 26th November Friday 11am – 11.45am
The Brave Box located in my office helps kids to prevent mental health issues by teaching them to think about what they are thinking about. Instead of storing too many thoughts in their mind (which can weigh us down) we are encouraging kids to write them down and put them in the BRAVE Box. As a parent or carer, you too can encourage kids to write down all those thoughts racing through their heads. Our world is such a busy place and with all the new digital technologies available to us we can sometimes forget to take care of our mental health. But just like we need to empty our rubbish bins we also need to detox our mind and relieve it from all those thoughts. When we have a clearer mind, it helps us to concentrate on the things that are important. Remember, don’t overload your mind! One way I love to detox my mind is by writing it all down on a Microsoft word document and deleting it! Then no one can find my secrets LOL and my mind is a lot clearer.
Our Seasons for Growth program is progressing well. Kids are beginning to learn that change always happens and sometimes we are not in control of those changes. Last week we learnt that change can affect us in a positive or negative way and the kids showed immense courage by sharing their stories of change with their peers. Even though everyone’s story was different they all shared something in common and that was they lost something important to them. This week we will continue to unpack those stories and learn how to adjust to those changes that are unexpected and not always welcome. This program is helping kids to understand they aren’t alone in their experiences and that they have others to support them.
Have a great week!!
