Report Cards
Please check your email addresses for your child’s academic report card for Semester
Please be sure to add Application.ONESCHOOL@qed.qld.gov.au to your list of safe senders to ensure report card emails aren’t sent to the Junk folder.
A reminder that in line with the modified schooling due to COVID-19 students have only been assessed on units of work that they have been taught and completed at school.
This semester’s reports include:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Health and Physical Education
- Music
Students in Years 1-6 have received a level of achievement grade and commentary to match what they have learnt in the semester and a future focus. Prep students have only received commentary on their learning (no marks have been allocated).
No behaviour or effort marks will be included.
Teachers have used results from Term 1 and short units of study in the above subject areas from when students returned to school.
Arriving at School
We would like to remind parents and students to arrive as close to the start of the school day as possible. The first bell rings at 9:00am with formal learning beginning at 9:10am. Students will remain seated in the Undercroft until 8:30am. Students will only be allowed to access the oval from 8:30am. The Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 gate will open at this time also (8:30am). If the gate is closed and no adult is present, entry must be via the main office entry. Please leave the gates closed. A staff member will open them.
Early Departures
We would like to remind families that signing students out early should be the exception rather than the norm and that a valid reason needs to be provided. Our office staff are being overwhelmed with a massive increase in the number of early sign outs. We understand that this is sometimes unavoidable. Please consider if an early sign out is essential.
Learning Walls
As part of our Reading Improvement Journey we are focussing on the use of
“Learning Walls” in our classrooms. We would like to encourage you to talk with your child about their reading goals and what their strategies are to help them reach their goal. The Leadership Team look forward to visiting classrooms this term. Our visits focus around five key questions:
- What are you learning?
- How are you doing?
- How do you know?
- How can you improve?
- Where can you go for help?
Feedback
We are always open to feedback as this helps our school to continuously grow and improve. There are many appropriate ways to provide feedback to our school and we appreciate the time and effort people have taken to ensure they are using these avenues. At the moment we have modified some of our avenues for providing feedback. The most effective way in this present situation is to email our admin@calliopess.eq.edu.au email address or via a phone call.
Kindest Regards,
Rebecca Crapp
Deputy Principal

Congratulations to 3A who had an amazing attendance rate for Week 1. Their attendance rate was 98% for the week! Also congratulations to the 7 classes who were at or above our school attendance target of 94% for Week 1. Remember, every day you are away is a learning day lost.
Each year the University of NSW conducts assessment tasks (competitions) for children across the South Pacific in a variety of subjects. The objective of these competitions is to help parents gauge the progress of their child against children in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. These competitions are not compulsory, but are open to families willing to pay the cost to have their child participate in the task.
There are a variety of competitions to enter. Parents can enter their children in as many of these as they choose. We encourage parents to talk to their children to consider taking on this challenge. Children should consider tackling the subjects they demonstrate confidence in. eg: if they’re good spellers, try the spelling competition. We will be offering the competition to students in years 2-6. All tasks are online.
Once again our P and C is recognising the achievements of students in last year’s testing by sponsoring the cost of those students in the tests that they were successful in. Those students receiving this sponsorship were emailed their letters last week.
Any other students who would like to complete an ICAS test will require entry/permission forms. All forms are to be emailed home and emailed back to school for 2020. If forms are required, please email Kylie Kettle at kkett3@eq.edu.au for them.
Payment is required by Friday 3 August

School photos delivery usually is about 8 weeks from photo day (not including holidays). However, currently with Covid19, production will take longer than usual due to the requirement of your school to now proof the composite photos before printing and of our substantial travel commitments to photograph many schools in the short timeframe that we now have. We will endeavour to get them sent to you as soon as we can but there will be delays.
We thank you for your patience, as we pride ourselves in striving to produce the best photos possible for you.
You will receive a newsletter with a more definite date closer to the time of delivery. Please contact Donna if you have any questions about your order. Your school administration will be unable to assist you regarding the photography.
We look forward to photographing your school again next year.
Kind regards
Paul & Donna Webb

Lots of reasons to say thank you from your P&C this week. Wow, what a start to Term 3 our Tuckshop had last week. Thank you to all of the families who ordered tuckshop. You certainly kept Lisa and her helpers very busy and we absolutely loved it. We hope that you all enjoyed your meals. If you see Lisa around the school, make sure you say hi.
Cookie Dough Fundraiser
We have officially wrapped up our Cookie Dough Fundraiser. All tubs were picked up last week. Thank you for picking them up promptly last Tuesday and thank you to the volunteers who met us at the park to count and sort all orders.
Tuckshop
This term, Tuckshop will be open First and Second Breaks, Tuesday through to Friday. We are still cashless, due to COVID procedures, so make sure you place all orders on the Flexischools App.
Flexischools
We have found an alternative to Flexischools which is more user friendly for our families and our P&C. Throughout this term we will be transitioning to use QKR, but don’t worry, this will be a slow transition. For now, Flexischools is still in use and this is the best way to order your tuckshop and uniforms. We will keep you updated as the transition begins in the coming weeks. Watch this space!
Term 3 Fundraisers
Our P&C are currently confirming the fundraisers for the term. To stay up to date, you can follow our Facebook page – Calliope State School P&C and continue to read our piece in the school newsletter each week.
