Fun Run
On Monday, P&C hosted their Rund Run fundraiser and the students who raised the most money got to slime a staff member. All students participated in the Fun Run and some very lucky students had the pleasure of sliming some staff members. It was a great afternoon. A huge thank you to all the families who assisted their children in raising funds for our P&C. These funds come back to you as they go towards paying for buses for excursions and camps.
Labubu Dolls
We kindly ask for your support in ensuring that students do not bring toys, including Labubu dolls, to school. While we understand that these items are special to your children, bringing them to school can be distracting during lessons and may cause unnecessary conflicts or loss.
Our focus is to maintain a positive and productive learning environment for all students, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us achieve this.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Moderation
On Tuesday our staff moderated student work alongside Benaraby State School. This ensures that our grading of students aligns to other students across our school and across other schools.
Principal’s Parade, Open Classrooms, Picnic on the Lawn
This Friday is our end of term Principal’s Parade, followed by Open Classrooms and Picnic on the Lawn. We are looking forward to seeing families join us on Friday for our end of term events.
Holidays
As we reach the end of a busy term, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support, encouragement, and positivity you continue to bring to our school. Together, we have created a strong and caring community where our students are thriving.
The upcoming break is a chance for everyone—students, staff, and families—to pause, rest, and recharge. I encourage you to take time to enjoy simple moments, connect with loved ones, and celebrate the growth and achievements of the past term.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another exciting chapter of learning and growing together.
Wishing you all a safe and restful break.

Calliope SS has had a very busy end of term. Last Friday, some of our Year 3 and 4 students participated in the NRL Touch Gala day at Yaralla. This was an awesome opportunity for our younger students to have a try at the game and compete against other schools. Calliope players were very competitive and demonstrated great teamwork and sportsmanship on the day. Thank you to Alex for coaching the girls on the day. Well done to our older students Kai, Porchia and Priyah for attending as trainee referees.

On Monday, Calliope had a girl and boy soccer team compete at the Soccer Gala day. Some of our boys enjoyed their first taste of competitive soccer and it was great to watch the boy team support each other on the field. The girls came so close to bringing home the Toyworld Cup, but unfortunately lost their game 0-1 to the winning team Tannum. It was such a fun day of soccer and the Calliope students demonstrated great teamwork and sportsmanship. Thank you Alyce for coaching our girl team on the day.
On Tuesday, Calliope took 50 students to GSHS to compete in the Spikezone Volleyball competition. Many of the students were new to the sport of volleyball but were excited to have a go! It was another enjoyable day in the sun doing sport. There was lots of laughs, encouragement and support from all. Well done again to the Calliope SS students for proudly representing our school, demonstrating great teamwork and sportsmanship. Thank you to all the parents who helped out supervising teams on the day.

We have had great news come in from across the world overnight about the World Wakeboard Results.
Our very own Mia Marks has been competing in the United States at the Wakeboard World Titles at Shark Wakepark in West Palm Beach Florida last week.
She competed in the 11-13 division and rode against girls from America, Mexico, UK & Italy.
The competition was tough and Mia gave it her all to finish second in the Features and 3rd in the Park Division. As the youngest rider in her competition, this is a huge achievement.
What an amazing young sportswoman. We are so proud of you Mia!
Port to Park
Congratulations to our participants in Port to Park this year. We raised $410 for our school!
Thank you for supporting Calliope State School in this community event.
RotaKids
Thank you to everyone for their donations for our Food Drive collection this term. Stronger Communities will be collecting our tubs and several bags this Thursday to share at their food pantry at the RSL hall. We now have 4 full tubs to be donated. Thank you all for your generosity!
Swagtember
Last Friday night, our Year 3 students participated in Swagtember. There were lots of fun activities, dinner, a disco and a movie during the night. Donations also went to buy swags for the homeless.
Way to go Year 3!
PBL Lesson this week
PBL Focus – Celebrating Our Successes
Celebration of Learning – Whole Class Stamp Charts
We are excited to announce that our students have achieved an amazing milestone of 20 Whole Class Stamp Charts! ? This fantastic achievement reflects the effort, teamwork, and positive behaviour shown across our school.
To recognise and celebrate this success, students will enjoy an extended play session in Term 4, Week 2. Congratulations to all classes for their commitment to making positive choices every day – what a wonderful way to celebrate our learning journey together!
G.E.M. Focus – Kindness
This week in our Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness (G.E.M.) program, students are exploring their favourite ways to practise mindfulness. They are encouraged to share their ideas with the class and plan a time to enjoy one of these calming activities together. Mindfulness helps students slow down, focus on the present moment, and manage their emotions in positive ways. By practising mindfulness regularly, our students are building skills that support their wellbeing, learning, and relationships.
Whole Class Stamp Charts
Congratulations to everyone that has completed their Whole Class Stamp Charts throughout Term 3!!!!
Your hard work and teamwork have helped bring our school total to 20 completed charts. What an incredible effort from everyone – We will be having extended play in Week 2 of Term 4 as our celebration!
The Biggest Catch
This week in the biggest catch, 2C, 2B, 5B and Prep B, and 5A have filled the most Individual Stamp Charts. Congratulations!!!
It’s our way of celebrating how many individual stamp charts each class completes.
Think of each filled chart as a part of a fish—the more completed charts, the bigger the fish will be.
At Calliope State School we all swim together.
Celebrating Positive Behaviour at Calliope State School
Our students continue to shine through their positive choices! By the end of Week 9, Term 3 2025, we have recorded an incredible 831 positive behaviour acknowledgements, up from 505 at the same point last year.
So far this term, we have celebrated students with 151 awards (including Teacher Aide Certificates, Cool Kid Certificates, Classroom Cool Kid Awards, and the Principal’s Award), 93 mentions in the Good Newsletter, and 3 positive contacts home through emails, phone calls, or e-postcards.
These numbers reflect the consistent effort of our students to live out our school values and support each other in creating a positive, respectful, and successful school community. Well done, everyone! ?
Calliope Collectables
In Term Four, we are trialling an exciting new PBL strategy to add to our positive reinforcement bank.
Staff members will be handing out Calliope Collectable Cards when they see Safe, Respectful and Responsible behaviours outside of the classroom. The cards are business card size and are unique to our school, featuring students and members of our school community. They will be handed out for not only our weekly Positive Behaviour for Learning focus, but all of our expectations for student behaviour.
Staff members will be looking for students displaying our expectations. They will write the student name on the back of a collector card and tick whether they were safe, respectful or responsible. They will use “descriptive encouraging” to explain to the student why they earned the card. The image that the student receives will depend on what the teacher has available. Each card may be acquired for displaying any of our PBL behaviours.
Two new cards will be released each week until all 18 cards have been handed out. Also, look out for the “wild cards” which will be distributed by the leadership team.
To collect the cards, each student will be given a business card display folder to proudly present their collections.
Remind your children that we are Safe, Respectful and Responsible at school in Term 4 and go get them all!
Check out the Calliope Collectables Promotional Trailer on our Facebook site.
