CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
As we do at the end of every year, we are saying goodbye to some of our staff. As a community we wish our colleagues every happiness as they move on and best wishes for the future.
I sincerely hope you all have an opportunity to experience the real meaning of Christmas, enjoy the festivities of the New Year and spend quality time with loved ones. I look forward to welcoming everyone back for the start of the 2022 on Monday January 24.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
FINAL THOUGHT
Kindliness, the qualities of being kind. You will never, ever, regret making the choice to be generous, gentle, considerate and present.
What's Happening in Year 6's Graduation!
What a glorious gradation Year 6 had on Monday night. Another group of talented students leaving our school to embark on their next adventure in life. It was a wonderful night of celebrating the current Year 6’s successes. Many thanks go to the parents, teachers and administration for the time and effort put into our graduates. The night culminated in the annual graduation dance, this time to, ‘High Hopes”. The graduation dance and PowerPoint will again be shown on Thursday morning at the Principal's Parade.
It is with a heavy heart each year that we farewell staff. Our staff form an integral part of the Calliope State School's family, and we are always saddened by their departure.
This year we have 6 staff members leaving us:
Rebecca Wilkinson, current classroom teacher for the last 4 years at Calliope State School. She is moving out to Blackwater to be with family and have a change. She is a wonderful teacher who will be dearly missed. We wish Rebecca all the best for the years to come.
Mrs Bartlem, one of our lovely teacher aides for the last 31 years is going on leave for 2022 with the intention of retiring. She is finally going to enjoy some time to herself. We wish you all the best for the future Mrs Bartlem.
Jessica Switzer, our current classroom teacher for the past 8 years has received a transfer to a school in Brisbane to be closer to family. Another fantastic teacher with more memories to be made.
Tim Kerr, our current music teacher started his teaching career with us in 2015 and has decided to head to the private sector in 2022. We Thank you, Tim for all the work and support you have given Calliope State school with your time here and wish you all the best.
Eileen, our school cleaner has been a part of our team for the last few years. She has cleaned our classrooms, offices and surrounds tirelessly each and everyday with 110% committment and effort. She is on the move to South East Qld to be with her gandbabies. We will miss you, Girlfriend!
Finally, Mrs Holland who came to Calliope State School and worked as a Teacher Aide for nearly 30 years, is retiring in 2021. Mrs Holland worked tirelessly with many students throughout her time at Calliope State School. Mrs Holland continued to go above and beyond for all students, the time she invested has never gone unnoticed from staff and the students that she supported in her years of teacher aiding. She is enjoying some time to herself gardening and with her loved ones.
We wish all the staff leaving in 2021 all the best and a safe move.
Congratulations to 3B who had an amazing attendance rate for Week 9. Their attendance rate was 95.2% for the week !
Also congratulations to the 3 classes who were at or above our school attendance target of 94% for Week 9.
Remember, every day you are away is a learning day lost.
Here we are; only three days of the school year to go! On behalf of the Calliope State School P&C, we wish all of our families a very Merry Christmas. Stay safe over the break, enjoy your travels around this beautiful country and we hope that 2022 brings a lot of joy after a very different and tough 2020/21.
Thank you to the school teachers and staff for their endless support this year. 2021 has taught everyone so much and it has highlighted that it is paramount that our children are encouraged to be life-long learners because, us parents certainly have learnt a lot!!!! To all of the school staff, we hope that you have a restful holiday and feel refreshed and rejuvenated for 2022.
Congratulations to our Year 6 students!!! They have officially graduated from Primary School. It was so humbling to see families together last night, to celebrate your graduation. All the best for your High School adventures and we hope that you will always look back on your Primary School days and smile!! It was a pleasure to present the Year 6 students with their signature frames and pens as their graduation gift this year.
Tuckshop News
Thank you to everyone who has supported the tuckshop throughout this crazy year - it’s certainly been different!
Our tuckshop is a very busy area and I do try to keep the costs down throughout the year. However, the Tuckshop must cover all expenses & make a small profit to go towards the P&C’s purchase of equipment or facilities for the students. I say this because some Tuckshop prices will be increased next year! :)
I am working through ideas for a new Summer Menu. If you have any ideas about menu items, please send them through. I will consider items that make Tuckshop service easier, yet deliver more tasty & healthy options. Your support & comments are always welcomed!
Can’t wait to prepare your healthy lunches next year!
Thanks Miss Lisa

Merry Christmas Everyone!
This week there is a lot of cleaning up going on, Christmas activities and playing games. In our friendship groups we have been baking cookies and having lots of fun.
This week I will also be talking about Bullying No Way. This is a government program that teaches students they do not have to be a victim to bullying. Even though we can’t always stop people from bullying us we do have a choice to walk away, play in a different area and report it to a teacher. The importance of bullying needs to be taken seriously as it has a big impact on our children’s mental health. If you would like to teach your children strategies on how to protect themselves from bullying you can visit www.bullyingnoway.gov.au. We are in this together as a community and we can all empower our kids to be protected from the effects of bullying.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Drive safe and enjoy your time over the school holidays.
