It was absolutely amazing to see all our students dressed up as their favourite book character last Friday. Congratulations to Mel Goodman Jones on creating a special adventure in our library for all our students. It was extraordinary. Students are now working towards end of term assessments. Next Friday (05 September) is a planned Student Free Day and students do not attend school. Staff will not be on site this day.
RotaKids
RotaKids will be holding a Food Drive for the remainder of this term.
We are seeking canned goods and non-perishable items to donate to a local charity group.
Please drop your items off into the tub at the front office.
Port to Park
Congratulations to the students and families who participated in the Port to Park Fun Run on Sunday. Students who participated are welcome to wear their blue shirt this Thursday, August 28.
Thank you for supporting the school.
Student Free Day
A reminder that Friday 5 September is a Student Free Day.
In Prep C this term, we are creating a short, written information text, using words and images, about a living thing. Students are writing about an Australian animal and labelling their needs. Then the students are writing a sentence using their sound knowledge to specifically write what that animal needs.
PBL Lesson this week
PBL Focus – Transitioning from Play to Line Up
This week, our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) focus is on transitioning from play to line up. Students are learning how to finish their games calmly, move to their designated line-up areas promptly, and be ready to return to class in an organised way. By practising these routines, students show respect for their peers and teachers and help create a smooth start to learning after break times.
G.E.M. Focus – Mindfulness
This week in our Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness (G.E.M.) program, students are practising mindfulness by reflecting on their emotions. They were encouraged to list all the emotions they have felt since waking up in the morning. This activity helps students recognise that it’s normal to experience many different feelings in one day. By noticing and naming emotions, students build self-awareness and learn strategies to manage their wellbeing more effectively.
Whole Class Stamp Charts
Congratulations to 3A, 1A & 2B, for completing their Whole Class Stamp Charts this term up to the end of Week 6! ?
Your hard work and teamwork have helped bring our school total to 15 completed charts. What an incredible effort from everyone – let’s keep the momentum going towards our next celebration!
Watch this space for our growing tally.
The Biggest Catch
This week the classes in the biggest catch have filled the most Individual Stamp Charts. Congratulations!!!
It’s our way of celebrating how many individual stamp charts each class completes.
Think of each filled chart as a part of a fish—the more completed charts, the bigger the fish will be.
At Calliope State School we all swim together.
Congratulations to the winning class 3C who had an amazing attendance rate for Week 6. Their attendance rate was 93.33% for the week!
Remember, every day you are away is a learning day lost. The school goal is to reach 94% or higher.
