This Friday is our Book Week Dress Up Celebration Day. All students are encouraged to come along on Friday, dressed as their favourite book character. This year’s theme is Book an Adventure. The poster adjacent is from CBCA and the illustrator is Jess McGeachin. Jess has captured the adventurous spirit in his artwork. We are looking forward to see all students come dressed as their favourite book character next week.
This week we have some very special visitors in our school. We have some of our Kindy students visiting our library for Book week. We are looking forward to seeing them. This is one of the activities we have to ensure our Kindy students are familiar with our school and to make the transition to our school smooth.
Queensland Road Safety Week runs from 18–22 August 2025 with the theme “We’re One Team Queensland. Let’s drive like it.”
There are a range of activities we are doing this week to acknowledge Road Safety Week. Please read further in our newsletter for a great opportunity to win a bike and other prizes.
Road safety starts young. Whether walking, riding, or driving, we can all set a great example for our students. Let’s work together so everyone gets home safe.
Help Shape our School – complete the School Opinion Survey
Don’t miss your chance to provide feedback in the School Opinion Survey before it closes this Friday on 22 August. Parents, carers and students in selected year levels have been emailed a link to participate. Your responses are highly valued and will help to shape better learning environments. Find out more on the School Opinion Survey webpage or contact school administration.
Last week we only had 44 parents respond. We now have 73 responses and are at 21.9% response rate. Thank you to those who have responded. Please take the time to add your opinion before Friday.
This week is a favourite because it's Book Week!
The theme for this year’s Book Week is Book an Adventure. We will have a dress up parade on Friday 22nd August - week 6. Students are invited to dress up as their favourite story book character. Please remember that costumes must be sun safe and practical to wear for the day.
We will be sharing the shortlisted books and voting for our favourites during our library lessons.
RotaKids will be holding a Food Drive for the remainder of this term.
We are seeking canned goods and non-perishable items to donate to a local charity group.
Please drop your items off into the tub at the front office.

PBL Focus – Back in Class and Ready to Learn
This week, our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) focus is on being back in class and ready to learn. Students are practising what it looks like to return to the classroom calmly, prepare their materials quickly, and engage straight away with their learning tasks. These routines help create a positive and settled environment where everyone can maximise their learning time. By being organised and focused, students show respect for themselves, their peers, and their teachers.
G.E.M. Focus – Mindfulness
This week in our GEM program (Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness), students have been practising mindfulness by tuning in to their environment. Using their senses, they were encouraged to identify 4 things they could see, 3 things they could hear, 2 things they could touch, and 1 thing they could smell. This simple but powerful activity helps students ground themselves in the present moment, reduce stress, and build calm focus for learning.
Whole Class Stamp Charts
Congratulations to Prep B, 1C and 2C for completing two Whole Class Stamp Charts and 2B, 3A, 4A, 4C, 5A, 5B for completing their
whole Class Stamp Charts this term up to the end of Week 5! ? Your hard work and teamwork have helped bring our school total to 12 completed charts. What an incre
dible effort from everyone – let’s keep the momentum going towards our next celebration!
Watch this space for our growing tally.
The Biggest Catch
This week the classes in the biggest catch have filled the most Individual Stamp Charts. Congratulations!!!
It’s our way of celebrating how many individual stamp charts each class completes.
Think of each filled chart as a part of a fish—the more completed charts, the bigger the fish will be.
