Bullying No Way: National week of action
The National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence has a new name—Bullying No Way: National week of action.
Bullying No Way Week, 12 to 16 August 2024, is Australia’s key bullying prevention initiative and connects schools and communities to find workable solutions to prevent bullying.
The theme for 2024 is 'Everyone belongs'.
When we all feel like we belong, bullying struggles to find a place. It's about embracing who we are, respecting everyone's differences and standing up together against unkindness.
Belonging means we all have a role in preventing bullying. We're encouraged to speak up and create a safe place where everyone feels supported and respected, and our voices are heard and valued.
All students are encouraged to wear orange clothing to support this cause. Student must still wear sun safe clothing and closed in shoes.
Parents and caregivers can visit https://bullyingnoway.gov.au/support-and-advice/for-families for more information about this cause.
Student Free Day – 30 August 2024
All parents and caregivers are advised that Friday 30 August is a Student Free Day.
The school will be closed on this day.
Book Week 2024
The Children’s Book Council of Australia Children’s Book Week is the 17th to 23rd of August.
The theme is Reading is Magic.
Book Week parade will be held on 23rd August and all children are encouraged to dress up.
All costumes must be sun safe and have closed in shoes.

Week 8 - Road Safety Week - Students will be participating in a range of classroom and outdoor activities throughout Week 8 (Please see flyer attached). Teaching children about road safety increases the awareness among children of the hazards involved in being on the road, whether as a pedestrian, cyclist/scooterist, car passenger and encourages them to be safe.
We are focusing on ‘The Importance of Respect’. Students are reminded the different ways to be respectful including being an active listener.
The Power of Compliments. At home, you could discuss what compliments they could share the next day or compliments they have received?
The Imperfects Podcast

Settle in and grab your notebooks, you’re in for a good one. We’re joined by Maria Ruberto, director and founder of Salutegenics Psychology, who just happens to be Ryan and Josh’s (ex) psychologist. Maria is the co-designer of Resilience First Aid, an internationally recognised two-day certification program, which teaches the neuroscience of resilience (Ryan took so many notes). We discuss with Maria the relationship between biology and behaviour, and the six domains of resilience. Getting technical, we delve into the negatives of screen time (hello darkness our old friend) and the ridiculously positive benefits of doing stuff with other people. So join us as we get started on building our resilience toolbox, practice breathing like a baby AND co-regulate like it’s no one’s business. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar625GcrTUI

What's been Happening in the Library
Congratulations to our Calliope Netball teams for their awesome efforts at the Port Curtis Interschool Netball Competition on Friday. Mrs Betts and Miss Heather were so proud of the amazing display of skills and sportsmanship from both these teams. Our Mixed team were undefeated all day and played Boyne SS in the finals. It was an exciting fast-paced and very close game, but sadly we went down by two. It was a fun day!
Thank you to Celisa and Holly for umpiring!

Thank you to the organisers of PC Interschool Netball competition for another year of a great competition!
Hi Families,
We hope everyone is enjoying the short school week! Can you believe we’re halfway through Term 3?!
There are still plenty of opportunities for you to get involved around the school. If you have completed your volunteer mandatory training, you’re welcome to attend the PBL meeting today at 3:30pm in the staffroom. If you don’t know much about PBL and want to know more but can’t make it to the meetings, ask your child’s classroom teacher about it. They will have plenty to show you around the classroom.
