Remember, every day you are away is a learning day lost.
This term in English, our task is to write an informative text about a familiar topic. During the term, we have been ‘flying’ to different countries and learning all about their culture, land, wildlife etc. In our class, we have 2 students who are from Columbia. So last week, we decided to ‘fly’ to Columbia. Riley’s mum, Marly, was kind enough to give up some of her time one morning to come in and teach us about her country’s wildlife, flag, population in comparison to Australia. The students loved this experience and were hanging on every word while she was telling us all of the cool things about her country. Thank you so much Marly!
PBL Lesson this week
We are focusing on ‘Catch it, bin it and kill it’. As the weather has been cooling down, it is important to remember to be hygienic to avoid the spread of illnesses.
Gem Chat
What challenges did we face and how did we overcome the challenges? At home, you could discuss challenges your child has faced and brainstorm ways they can overcome them if faced with the challenge again.

Hi Families,
The P&C have organised with the funding from Breaky Club four tables for the children to sit on while they have their breakfast in the morning and to share at lunch times. These tables are cleaned regularly by the beautiful tuckshop convenor and volunteers. By introducing these tables, we have managed to reduce the litter around the school of a morning. From what we have heard the children are loving them.
By now all families should have received their family journals and you are all enjoying them as much as the children enjoy the resilience project learning material at school.
The journals are designed to focus on gratitude, empathy and mindfulness to improve everyone’s mental health and not to mention provide a daily reflection and question time for the family to participate.
Cans for Change
You may have noticed the old tired can bin outside the swimming pool has been replaced by this wonderful new safe and shiny new one thanks to one of our handy parents Mr Kummerfeld.
If you have any cans you wish to put towards the schools Cans for Change donations, please feel free to drop them into our new bin or give them to your child to bring to school and place into one of the new green bins around the school grounds.
Father’s Day Stall/ Fundraising
This month we will be holding the Father’s Day stall on Wednesday 28th August 2024. Our amazing Treasurer has just placed an order for all new items for the children to purchase from. There won’t be any pre order packs available this time sorry. Once the stock has arrived, we will post a sneak peek of what is available.
Our next fundraiser will be a “Design a Plate” which will be very handy for a Christmas gift for a loved one or a memento for the family. Once we have a date confirmed, order and design forms will be sent home and information will be provided in the newsletter and on the P&C Facebook page.
If you have any fundraising suggestions, please email them to communications.calliopess@gmail.com or direct message via facebook. Our committee are open to any suggestions.
Uniform Shop
We are urgently seeking volunteers to help pack orders fortnightly on a Friday for 1/2 hour (8:30-9am). If you are available and have completed your mandatory training, please email uniformshop.calliope@gmail.com
Warm Regards
Geoff, Jason, Angela & Lisa
