Welcome to Term 2. I trust all our families have had a restful break and quality family time over the school break. We welcome all our new families to our school who enrolled towards the end of last term and this week. This week our Year 3 and 5 students have the opportunity to participate in Star Lab. Next week we will have our ANZAC Day School Commemorative Service on Wednesday at 9:15 am in the hall. All parents and caregivers are invited to attend. There will be no assembly on Friday, next week.
School Review
Our School Review will take place from 30 April – 2 May. During this time you may see our Reviewers out and about at drop off and pick up times. Please feel welcome to have a chat them.
Smiley
It was great to see our school mascot, Smiley at our Easter Hat Parade last term. It was also wonderful to see Smiley pay attention to our school dress code. Smiley now has appropriate black shorts in-line with our dress code. Well done Smiley.
Equity and Excellence
The framework above models key considerations that are necessary to be successful with the implementation of a whole school approach to using digital learning. We need to consider all of the segments in order to have a strategic approach and to maximise the benefits for our students. With the pace of change and what is possible, we will get further if we maintain a conversation across the whole school.
Our school has come a long way on our digital learning journey. Over the last two years every classroom has been issued with a new Promethean Activ-Panel. Each teacher has been provided with Professional Development in how to use this new technology (for our school).
In addition to this, the school has purchased replacement laptops and new ipads. Teachers have had the opportunity to participate in Apple Teacher training. We now have over fifteen staff members who are qualified Apple Teachers.
For every student, having digital agency means they can critically engage with technology in ways that benefit them to realise their potential.
Our opportunities
- Technology also presents us with opportunities to re-imagine teaching and learning.
- Education systems must prepare every student for life beyond school and the jobs of the future.
- Digital innovation in teaching and learning goes beyond the school gates. It opens doors for students across the state to access learning wherever they are, whenever they need.
- Digital innovation in teaching and learning initiative can be accessed on the Equity and Excellence webpage: https://education.qld.gov.au/initiatives-and-strategies/strategies-and-programs/equity-and-excellence/digital-innovation-in-teaching-and-learning

Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing Survey
The QEW Survey is run in Weeks 1 to 4 of Term 2 each year. Students in Years 4 - 6 will be asked to take part in the Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing (QEW) Survey.
We know that wellbeing and engagement are important parts of your child’s life at school. The QEW Survey is designed to measure how students view their wellbeing and engagement across different topics. The information we get from the survey helps us better understand and support our students.
An information letter has been sent out to parents and carers this week. If you have any questions, please contact the school. More information, including FAQs, can be found on the Education website: (https://qed.qld.gov.au/publications/reports/statistics/schooling/students/queensland-engagement-wellbeing-survey).

The P&C have put together packs for the students to purchase and gift to the special mothers in their lives. We will be doing a stall on Wednesday the 8th of May in the school hall, so if you have an hour or two to spare, please send a message to our Facebook page.
