Welcome to Week Nine of Term 4.
Last Friday I had the pleasure to attend our Community Christmas Carols. Our students did our school proud. A huge thank you to Laura Kale who prepared and motivated each grade level for their performance. Thank you also to Grace Rackemann and Chris Allen who have worked with our instrumental students throughout the year. It was great to see them perform at this public event. The rotary club worked tirelessly to create this event and it was a great time for the community to come together and celebrate the upcoming Christmas period.
Everyone is looking forward to our P&C Raffle draw this Friday on assembly. Make sure you get your tickets in. There are some amazing prizes.
This week students are enjoying their swimming carnivals. Year six transitions occurred earlier in the week and we welcome our new preps for 2024 into our school for open days. Next Monday, our year six students will celebrate their final year of primary school at their Graduation on Monday night.
Staff and community have been positive with our school working with the Resilience Project and the 2024 School Wellbeing Program. The Resilience Wellbeing Program has had proven impact in previous years. We have had further meetings and are excited about how this project will impact positively on all our students, staff and community.
Please remember to register for the Department’s QParents App. You will be able to securely access information about your child/children. This is also how you will be able to give website consents for your child/children with immerging technological initiatives.
A Factsheet about QParents is included in this newsletter. Please see our administration staff for assistance. (Shan edit this as needed if you have sent out codes etc).

This is what learning looks like in 3A!

Shaping up!
Creative ideas with shapes! Hmmm Are there some future builders and engineers here?
And then… it’s graduation from 3A with a Pen-license!
Congratulations to 4B who had an amazing attendance rate for Week 8. Their attendance rate was 95.38% for the week!
Also, congratulations to the 1 class that were above our school attendance target of 94% for Week 8.
Remember, every day you are away is a learning day lost.
Swimming Carnivals are on on this week!
Please be aware, several classes have changed day and time for lessons in this week. Please see below the timetable for Week 9. Prep to Year 3 will participate in their own cohort mini swimming carnivals and Years 4 to Year 6 will participate in a combined event. All students will need to wear their school uniform on their swimming carnival day and change into their swimmers at school. Students are to wear swimming caps and appropriate swimming attire with a sun shirt. Prep-Year 2 classes will not have their normal PE lesson next week, only their swimming carnival.
Parents are welcome to attend. Parents and spectators will be required to stay behind the cone barriers or can sit on the hill.
Prep students will participate in rotational novelty events. The Year 1-3 carnivals will start with races followed by rotational novelty events.
Dress standards – All students are required to wear appropriate togs, sun shirt and sunscreen to be applied beforehand. If going home on a bus students will need to change back into school uniform.

Are you already planning ahead for your 2024 book list needs? Did you know that by shopping at Office National Gladstone for your booklist supplies, you will be also supporting the P&C? Office National is a locally owned business, has super competitive prices and also delivers your booklist supplies to your home for free when you spend over $50! The more families that purchase their booklist supplies through Office National, the more money they will give directly back to the P&C for the benefit of all our students. You can drop off your booklist in person or email it in. Check out our Facebook page for more details too!
Even though it is Week 9, if you wish to contact us with thoughts and/or ideas; do not hesitate! We welcome you to contact us at any time! You can email us on; communication.calliopess@gmail.com for our Communication Officer or pandc@calliopess.eq.edu.au for our Executive team.
