Support Staff Week
At Calliope State School we are very lucky to have an amazing team of support staff who support both staff and students every day. Our Office workers, groundsman and IT Tech support officer are an essential part of our team and we value their input.
Student Code of Conduct
Our Student Code of Conduct can be found on our school website . This document outlines
- The Student Code of Conduct details the behaviour of students that is expected and the types of disciplinary consequences that may be used to respond when behaviour does not meet expectations.
- There can be no mandatory consequences for student misbehaviour, the Student Code of Conduct details what the range of consequences are only (this is a principle of natural justice to ensure that every situation is considered on its unique circumstances prior to any disciplinary decision being made).
- The Student Code of Conduct must be revisited annually to ensure currency (e.g. staff changes) and a full review is expected every four years in line with the school review process.
If you have any questions or queries in relation to the Student Code of Conduct, please feel free to contact our office to make an appointment with Rebecca Crapp so we can work through them.

One of the important documents required to be sighted as part of enrolling in Prep is your child’s Birth Certificate. If you do not have a copy please click the link below to complete the application form and for information on steps to apply:
Swimming Update
Due to updates in the P – 12 Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework, there will be changes to the Swimming Program at Calliope State School.
This is also due to the financial and human resourcing implications for a swimming program being held during PE lessons. Currently, we are experiencing a shortage in staffing and unable to cover teacher and teacher aides in our classrooms for student support.
An intensive Water Safety Education Program will be provided by Royal Life Saving Queensland for students in Prep, Year 1, Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6, in a one-week block. This program will occur in addition to the Physical Education program. These programs aim to provide the skills and knowledge for staying safe in and around the water, how to help and CPR awareness. Our intent is to ensure that all students access this opportunity in 2-year cycles.
Further information will be sent out to year levels who are swimming in the coming weeks to complete permission and medical forms. Individual parent queries and questions cannot be answered separately and all information will be provided in the newsletter and parent permission forms. Please refer to these as the correct information about swimming.

Rebecca Crapp
Acting Principal
Our Term 3 Principal's Parade will be held this Friday, 9 September. Parents are welcome to visit classrooms after parade. they will be open until 10.30am.
This term 1D have been investigating natural, managed and constructed environments in HASS/Science. We have explored the school to discover the different areas. 1D discovered that our one natural environment is the gully. We have discussed the oval and gardens as parts that Mr Newby manages and look after, and our classroom and other buildings as the constructed elements of the school.

Student Learning and Wellbeing News
Welcome to Week 9!
This week's PBL focus is ‘Play Safe - With Sticks and Stones’. The lesson focuses on the safety around playing with sticks and stones. Over the past few weeks, it has been noticed that students have not been playing safely with sticks and stones. Therefore, we are reiterating the safety aspect of playing with these items safely.
Congratulations to 6C who had an amazing attendance rate for Week 8. Their attendance rate was 97.5% for the week!
Also, congratulations to the 7 classes which were at or above our school attendance target of 94% for Week 8.
Remember, every day you are away is a learning day lost.
