In English in 4C this term we have been busy learning about traditional stories. Students of 4C have enjoyed watching, reading and listening to a range of traditional stories from many different cultures. All students have been actively engaged with their learning this term in this unit and have now written and presented some of their own amazing traditional stories. Great job 4C!
A massive THANK-YOU to the Calliope community for your great show of support over the weekend towards our birthday celebrations. Our luncheon was well supported by a range of past and current staff. Lots of fun was seen being had by all ages at our fair with the rides being very popular. Our school tours were fascinating with the groups being able to share some fascinating history with the tour guides as well. Thanks to our hardworking P&C for putting this event together and to all the staff and parents who worked so hard to make it a success.
Teacher Aide Day Tomorrow
At Calliope State School we are very lucky to have an amazing team of teacher aides who support both staff and students every day. Tomorrow is a special day to acknowledge all their hard work and contributions to our school. Remember to say “Thanks” to all our teacher aides tomorrow when you pass them in our school.
Get Set for Prep
Enrolment packages are now available at the school office. Please visit or contact Administration on 4975 8333 for further information. Enrolment Interviews are now available for early September. Please book in a time for you and your child if they are starting Prep in 2023.
One of the important documents required to be sighted as part of enrolling in Prep is your child’s Birth Certificate. If you do not have a copy please click the link below to complete the application form and for information on steps to apply:
Heading to High School
Have you been in touch with the high school you are planning on enrolling your child in for Year 7? Remember that you need to have handed in their enrolment forms for them to be part of our transition activities. If you are yet to tell us which high school they are going to, please call the office so we can ensure we are passing on information to them correctly.
Communicating with our School
The Queensland Government has produced the Parent and Community Code of Conduct to support school communities to understand communication, collaboration and school conduct. Calliope State School supports productive partnerships with parents to provide the best experiences possible for our students. Respectful communication in all situations is the first step in creating wonderful partnerships. See the summary sheet below to help us work together successfully.
Scooter and Bike Safety
We have a large number of students leaving our school each afternoon on bikes and scooters. Part of our safety expectation is that these are walked until reaching either the end of the pool area or after the bridge depending on which way your child is travelling. If your child is a bike or scooter rider please go over this expectation with them along with reminding them to wear their helmet.
Swimming Update
Due to updates in the P – 12 Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework, there will be changes to the Swimming Program at Calliope State School. A Water Safety Education Program will be provided by Royal Life Saving Queensland for students in various year levels. These programs aim to provide the skills and knowledge for staying safe in and around the water, how to offer assistance and CPR awareness.
Further information will be sent out to year levels who are swimming in the coming weeks to complete permission and medical forms.
Arts Spectacular
Our Arts students are busy preparing for their next big event. Our Instrumental Music students and choir students will be performing next Monday night at 5.30pm in the hall. Be sure to arrive before this to secure a great seat!
Friday Pupil Free Day

As a community of learners, our staff will be having a day of learning THIS FRIDAY- 2nd September – so no school for students.
Rebecca Crapp
Acting Principal
Please note: For the safety of our students, our gates will be closed from 9.15am everyday. Please access our main entry in front of the administration to sign your child in late or if you require to be on site.
**** Also remind your child it is our school's expectation that when arriving late to school, they must come through the office and receive a late slip before heading to class.
Welcome to Week 8! This weeks PBL focus is ‘Parade Greeting’. The lesson focuses on how to greet your audience on parade. Students will learn the expectations on what to say, when to say it and how to say it.
