Road Safety Week
22-26 of August is Road Safety Week. In partnership with the Queensland Police Service, the Year 6 Leaders organised a range of activities to promote road safety in our community. The footpath art was a big success with each class creating chalk art to send road safety messages. Our P-2 students also participated in activities on the oval to learn about roads. Throughout the week, there will also be a colouring in competition.
Lunch Boxes
We would like to thank all the parents who have been in touch with us to raise their concerns about lunch boxes. We have been following this up in a number of ways. We have asked our Positive Behaviour for Learning staff to review our lunchbox procedures – this will take place at their next meeting. Each class affected is reteaching our lunchbox expectations with their classes. We have also increased the leadership presence in the “hot spots” for where the issues are occurring. In addition, we are following up through our Student Code of Conduct where appropriate with individual students. To support further, we ask that all parents please have conversations with their children about ensuring their lunchboxes are safely placed in the provided lunch tubs at the end of each eating time so that duty staff can keep a closer eye on them.

Well done to all the Calliope State School students, parents and staff who participated in the Port to Park FunD Run on Sunday. Part on their entry fee will come back to our school to purchase items for the school.

Student Free Day
Families are reminded that Friday September 2, is a Student Free Day.
Book Week
Last Friday we held our annual Dress Up day for Book Week. There were so many wonderful book characters brought to life. The staff performance this year was ‘No Way Yirrikpayi’ with plenty of fun on the stage.
