Our Year 4 student Leah has also been kicking goals in Acrobatics. Leah and her partner Hannah competed in the Australian Gymnastics Championships down at the Gold Coast. They did extremely well, getting bronze overall.

Calliope SS Athletics Carnivals

Calliope SS Athletics Carnivals are happening in Week 6, all families are welcome to attend.

Tuesday 24 May- 1:45- 3:15pm - Prep Sports Carnival

Wednesday 25 May- 1:45- 3:15pm - Year 1 and Year 2 Sports Carnival

The Junior Sports carnivals will kick off with sprint races, followed by fun athletic inspired rotational activities.

Thursday 26 May- Finals for 800m race, high jump and discus

Students have qualified for these events during PE lesson time and will be notified of their selection at the start of Week 6. A timetable of events will be in the Week 6 newsletter on Tuesday and posted on the school Facebook page. The 800m will be run in the morning, followed by high jump and then the discus finals will begin around lunchtime. Students will still be in class on this day and only the finalists will attend their competitive event.

Friday 9am-3:15pm - Years 3-6 Athletics Carnival

The Senior Carnival will start with 100m and 200m heats. The top qualifiers will race in the finals at the end of the day. Students will then participate in the athletic events of long jump and shot put as well as ball games. Students who have qualified for the long jump and shot-put finals will be notified by their teachers before the day and will compete for ribbons in the competitive pits.
