School Lunches

Packing healthy lunches for your child’s day

A healthy lunch box full of fresh food gives your child/children energy to play, concentrate and learn all day.

Ideal school lunches should include at least one item from each food group and also include water.

Encourage your children to get involved in the planning, shopping and preparation of foods for their school lunches, so they are more likely to enjoy them.

Please ensure your child/children have enough lunch packed to get them through the day and that they are also eating breakfast. We've found that students have been eating their lunches before school due to skipping breakfast then getting to lunch time and having no food to eat.

Breakfast is a great way to give the body the refueling it needs. Skipping breakfast can make kids feel tired, restless, or irritable. In the morning, their bodies need to refuel for the day ahead. Their mood and energy can drop by midmorning if they don't eat something for breakfast.
