Air Conditioners

Thank you for your understanding regarding the air conditioning works in a number of our rooms at the school.

The supply of Air Conditioner units and parts is currently delayed due to COVID impacts, where the units would normally be in stock around Australia, they are not. Supply is therefore dependent on overseas shipping and there have been significant delays in the entire industry.  Gladstone area is suffering extended delays in addition, as the local contractor could not deliver the work requested.

As a matter of urgency, we have made enquires of QBuild: a division of the Department of Energy and Public Works, who are the agency committed to the construction and maintenance of government owns assets, on the expected timeframes for the 3 appointed contractors to complete works; however, any work will be dependent on access to units and parts, as they are required.

Our school is making use of alterative learning spaces wherever possible to minimise the impacts of this situation on staff and students.

Once a firm delivery date and works date is advised, I will be able to update you further.

Thank you for your understanding of this situation and helping support our students for their learning.

Unwell children

Essential to the success of these measures is that if your child is unwell or displaying any COVID-19 symptoms, they must not attend school. I cannot emphasise this message strongly enough – it is critical to keeping our school community safe. Your child, if they have COVID-19 symptoms, can visit your local Queensland health testing clinic and will be given priority access to a free RAT.

Say bullying is never ok on the National Day of Action

Help our school demonstrate Kindness Culture this National Day of Action (NDA) against Bullying and Violence on Friday 18 March. Together we can make a change; everyone in our school community has a role to play in bullying prevention. The NDA is an important opportunity to share the message that bullying is never ok.

Stop, Drop and Go

https://www.facebook.com/CalliopeStateSchool/videos/464651811146265

Reminder: The safety of our students is a priority at Calliope State School; please be patient when using Stop, Drop and Go. Please do not park in the Stop, Drop & Go Zones at any time as this congests the flow of traffic and blocks access to the kerb. The concrete centre island outside of the school is not a parking area or a Stop, Drop and Go Zone. Please do not use the concrete centre island as an area to drop off your children.

Some key points to remember:

  • Stay in your car and leave the car running so that you can move forward (this maintains a steady flow of traffic).
  • Keep left while queuing for Stop, Drop & Go.
  • Children must enter and exit cars from the kerb side only.
  • Give way when exiting the drop zone.
  • In the afternoon, delay your arrival to minimise traffic congestion.
  • If your child is not yet at Stop, Drop & Go, drive slowly through the carpark and turn right just before the exit to re-join the queue.

Regards
