YEAR 6 CAMP

From all reports, the Year 6 students had a fantastic time on camp last week. They were still smiling when they arrived safely back at school on Friday; albeit very tired and ready for their own bed. A huge thank you goes to our staff who gave up a large amount of their own time to plan and prepare for the Year 6 camp and to those staff who supported the students whilst on camp including Mrs Sellin, Mrs Smith-Ashton, Ms Heather, Ms Whale and Mrs Marshall.

YEAR 6 GRADUATION

We are very excited in 2021, under the current COVID guidelines, to offer each Year 6 student 4 direct relatives as guests who must remain seated for the duration of the ceremony.  Under last year’s guidelines we could only have 2 relatives attend. Our graduation ceremony is still subject to social distancing requirements and guests will be required to check-in via the Check In QLD app.  Students are to wear their formal shirt – either school or senior.  No sports uniforms are to be worn.

REPORT CARDS

Report cards will be released on Thursday December 9 via email. Please ensure your email address is current.

CHRISTMAS MARKET STALL

Friday December 3 - Year 6 is holding a Christmas market stall in the hall.  A huge variety of items for sale including Christmas jewellery, decorations, lanyards and scrunchies. Please come and shop to support our EarlyPreneurs.

Prices ranging from 20 cents to $5.

PROTECT YOURSELF WITH THE COVID-19 VACCINE

It’s easy and convenient for everyone to get vaccinated. Anyone aged 12 years and

over can simply walk in – bookings are not required. Vaccination is our way out of this pandemic and it is the best thing we can do to protect ourselves, our families and our community. For those requiring their second dose, it doesn’t matter where you received your first dose, you can go to any vaccination clinic in Queensland. Visit the Queensland Health website for information and vaccination locations.

IS YOUR CHILD MAKING THE STEP TO PREP IN 2022?

Families are critical partners when children start school. There are some fun and helpful activities and games available on the early childhood website. Let’s work together to make the step to Prep as successful as possible.

ANXIETY DOESN’T HAVE TO BE SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT

Anxiety in children and teenagers can start out small, but may end up affecting their daily lives. When overly worried, some kids don’t talk about it. They may even seem angry or irritable, rather than anxious or they may get frequent stress headaches or stomach aches.

But with parents’ help, children can learn how to reduce their own anxious feelings.

The new Fear-Less Triple P Online program has practical Triple P – Positive Parenting Program tips and ideas – and it’s free, thanks to the Queensland Government.

Learning more about coping with uncomfortable emotions can help you use positive methods to respond to child and teenage anxiety.

Read more about this hot parenting topic here or for more free Triple P programs, go to: www.triplep-parenting.net.

If your family is going through tough times, contact Family and Child Connect for free, unlimited, confidential advice. They are there to listen and connect you with practical support. Access to interpreters is also available. A range of Family and Child Connect resources are available, including information in other languages.
