CALLIOPE CHRISTMAS CAROLS 2021
(PENDING WEATHER IF THE EVENT GOES AHEAD - DECISION WILL BE MADE WEDNESDAY 24/11/2021)
The Calliope Carols are back on this year, after a break due to COVID restrictions. They will be held on Friday November 26 (Week 8). As in previous years, each year level is learning a song, which they will perform on stage as part of the concert.
It has been noted that the date also coincides with the return of the Year 6 students from their camp. We understand that this will be the end of a big week for these students but we hope that as many as possible will still attend the carols event and perform, as this will be their last carols event before they go to high school.
We hope to see everyone there!
COLLECTING CHILDREN AT THE END OF DAY
Parents are reminded that if they are collecting their child at the end of the school day, they need to wait in one of the designated waiting areas and not enter classrooms before 3.15pm. Parents are welcome to enter the school grounds from 3.00pm and wait in the covered area near the library, under the Prep eating area sheds and in the undercroft near the office. We thank you for your understanding and allowing classrooms to continue learning without disruption until 3.15pm.
2022 LEADERSHIP SPEECHES
Parents of students who are giving leadership speeches are welcome to join their child’s classroom for the viewing of speeches which will be taking place this Thursday and Friday (Please check with your childs classroom teacher for exact day and time).
School Captain speeches will be Thursday 9am – 10am.
All other positions after parade on Friday (approx. 9:45am).
YEAR 6 GRADUATION
Graduation will begin at 5:30pm in the multipurpose hall on Monday 6 December 2021. Students are welcome to bring four directly related adults to the graduation ceremony (this will be subject to change of COVID restrictions). We will have the QR code available for check in on arrival.

SUN SAFETY - HATS
Our school policy on Sun Safety is simple: NO HAT, NO PLAY.
Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the word and in Queensland the UV index is high all year round. Because of this, Queensland has the most cases of skin cancer of any place in the world, so Queensland schools are encouraged to promote sun safety for all outdoor activities. This includes everyday activities as well as swimming and athletics carnivals.
At Calliope State School it is mandatory that the Calliope State School sun safe hat is worn outside of the classroom. Hat Policy – NO HAT, NO PLAY! All students must wear their hat outside and are permitted to remove their hat under buildings, walkways and roofed shade structures. As the weather is warming up please remind your child/ren to bring their hat to school everyday as we don’t loan hats out or ring home for forgotten hats. School hats can be purchased through the QKR! App.
YEAR 6 CAMP
Our Year 6 students travelled to Bundaberg yesterday for Year 6 Camp. The students will be staying at Chaverim College and will be participating in many activities during the week including a day trip to Lady Musgrave Island.
