REMEMBRANCE DAY 2021

The 11th hour, of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front and is universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, when the guns fell silent, we will remember them.

Our school leaders did the school proud at the Calliope RSL Remembrance Day commemorative service last week.

CALLIOPE CHRISTMAS CAROLS 2021 – DATE CLAIMER

The Calliope Carols are back on this year, after a break due to COVID restrictions. They will be held on Friday November 26 (Week 8). As in previous years, each year level is learning a song, which they will perform on stage as part of the concert.

It has been noted that the date also coincides with the return of the Year 6 students from their camp. We understand that this will be the end of a big week for these students but we hope that as many as possible will still attend the carols event and perform, as this will be their last carols event before they go to high school.

We hope to see everyone there!

HAVE YOU ENROLLED YOUR CHILD FOR HIGH SCHOOL?

To be included in the transition days in Week 9 for Calliope State High School and Gladstone State High School, you need to have completed the enrolment paper work for that school. Please contact the school asap to organise your enrolment.

CALLIOPE STATE HIGH SCHOOL ORIENTATION DAYS

Year 6 parents, if you have nominated Calliope State High School as your child’s high school, your child will have received an invitation with all of the information you need around transition days. If you have any questions, Ms Kel’s contact details are on the postcard.

All Year 6 students wishing to attend Orientation Days, (November 29 and 30) will need to have returned enrolment packs and attended an enrolment interview – we don’t want to see anyone miss out!

YEAR 5 LEADERSHIP SPEECHES

Well done to all of our Year 5 students for the effort they have put into completing the Student Leadership Applications. Year 5 students will find out on THURSDAY 18 NOVEMBER if they have progressed to the next round and will then need to prepare a speech. If successful, their application will be returned to you so that they can use this to put their speech together. Speeches will then be filmed Monday to Wednesday of next week and presented to classes on the Thursday and Friday of Week 8, followed by voting. Parents will be notified about how they can attend viewings of the speeches in their child’s classroom.

YEAR 6 GRADUATION

Our Year 6 Graduation invitations will be going out to these families very soon. Keep an eye out for them in your child’s bag and further information in next week’s newsletter. It will begin at 5:30pm in the multipurpose hall here at the school on Monday 6 December 2021.
