CALLIOPE CHRISTMAS CAROLS 2021 – DATE CLAIMER
The Calliope Carols are back on this year, after a break due to COVID restrictions. They will be held on Friday November 26 (Week 8). As in previous years, each year level is learning a song, which they will perform on stage as part of the concert.
It has been noted that the date also coincides with the return of the Year 6 students from their camp. We understand that this will be the end of a big week for these students but we hope that as many as possible will still attend the carols event and perform, as this will be their last carols event before they go to high school.
We hope to see everyone there!
MENTAL HEALTH WEEK
This week the staff and students are celebrating Mental Health Week. They are participating in a variety of activities before school and during the breaks to support them with strategies to improve their mental wellbeing.
Mental illness can affect anyone. About half of all Australians experience it in their lifetime, and about one in five experience a mental health issue in any one year.
Queensland Mental Health Week (9–17 October 2021) promotes the importance of mental health and wellbeing, to reduce associated stigma, and to celebrate the service of mental health workers. The theme for 2021 is again, Take Time—for Mental Health.
NEW FAILURE TO REPORT OFFENCE – FACT SHEET FOR STUDENTS AGED 18 YEARS OR OLDER
New laws have been enacted to better protect children from the risk of sexual abuse. The failure to report offence requires all adults, including students aged 18 years or older to report sexual offending against children to police unless they have a reasonable excuse.
A fact sheet has been developed to support students who are 18 years or older to understand the failure to report offence and their responsibilities.
