Calliope State School - Wide World of Sports
Welcome back everyone!
Term 1 is a very busy term! We have a variety of different sporting events that are approaching very quickly. We kick off the year with the PJ Marsh Rugby League competition and the NRL Development Cup (U12s Inter-school Rugby League competition).
Throughout Term 1, Port Curtis trials will be held for several different sports. I will announce PC trials as they are coming up and hold lunchtime training sessions for students interested in trying out. Just a reminder, Port Curtis trials are for representative level, so students need to demonstrate a high level of skill at a representative level.
There will be opportunities throughout the year for students to try out for school teams to play and represent our school at interschool competitions. Many of these interschool competitions like Netball, Touch Football and Soccer do not start until Term 3. I will let students know as they come up.
The ‘Great Calliope Skip Off’ competition will also be on again this term. I will be opening the hall in the mornings for students to come along and practise their skipping. To make it in to the competition at the end of term, students will have to make it on the ‘1 Minute Wall of Fame’.
The end of term will see us out with our annual Cross Country Carnival. I will be starting running training on Friday mornings down on the front oval at 8:30am. All students are welcome to come join in.
Please remind your children to check the PE notice board located outside the office for any upcoming events and other important information. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to what 2021 will bring! My email contact is: cbett49@eq.edu.au
