Week 5 is upon us and we’re almost at the halfway point of Term 4. The PBL lesson this week is on: Respectful – Use Respectful Language. At Calliope State School one of our core expectations is on Respectful behaviour and this is why we are focusing on using Respectful language. Unfortunately, television and social media has led to an increase in rude and disrespectful language in children’s lives, which is why we take the time to counter this with reminding them to use respectful by:

• speaking politely with all staff members;
• speaking politely with their fellow students;
• raising their hands to ask a question or speak;
• saying “please” and “thank you” when speaking; and
• using kind words over mean ones.

The more we reinforce polite and respectful language with students, the more we can help them create and maintain good relationships at school.

Don’t forget to let your kid/s know about all the cool Active & Engaged activities on a break time. Whether they want to play netball, chill out colouring in and watching a movie, or learn to dance, there is something for everyone. Here are the events:
