Get red, RED, ready for Day for Daniel 2020!
Why do we celebrate Day for Daniel? Friday 30th October 2020?
Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest child safety event of its kind. It is held in schools, workplaces, early childhood centres and public and private events across the nation.
The Daniel Morcombe Foundation has produced the Keeping Kids Safe resource to support students Recognise, React and Report when they feel unsafe. Developing an understanding of respectful relationships is also a key learning area within the resource. Keeping Kids Safe is age and developmentally appropriate and contains short video vignettes to promote classroom discussion and completion of in class activity worksheets.
They are used as part of our comprehensive whole school approach to personal safety education and are aligned with the following:
· Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA)
· Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Curriculum within Health and Physical Education
The Daniel Morcombe website has a range of resources to support Australia’s biggest child safety lesson. I have attached a link for parents or carers to view a video with your child to encourage discussions about personal safety.
