Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
Weekly Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
Welcome to Week 4. The PBL lesson this week is on: Responsible – How to handle my Zones. At Calliope State School we use Zones of Regulation to help teach students to identify their emotions and provide strategies on how to handle them when they fluctuate. Some suggested strategies for a change in our moods include:
- Counting to 10 or using balloon/circular breathing;
- Asking to use the Time Out pass;
- Drink some water;
- Do wall push ups or something physical;
- Talk to a significant adult;
- Draw or colour in;
- Visit the Regulation Station at the back of the classroom; and
- Going for a supervised run.
The more we make students aware of their emotions and provide ways they can problem solve the better. Please take the time to visit some of these strategies with your child/children.
Don’t forget to remind your kid/s about all the cool Active & Engaged activities on a break time. Whether they want to play netball, chill out colouring in and watching a movie, or learn to dance, there is something for everyone.
Fantastic Fun Friday is coming up in Week 5, so be sure to encourage your child/children to get their Stamp Charts in. RotaKids have decided the events will be: Prep-2 Disney Activity and Years 3-6 Skipping challenge.
Thanks.
