What's Happening in 2C
It’s been a busy and exciting term in Year 2 as we continue to grow as confident learners!
English
In English, we have been exploring familiar narratives and learning how to adapt them in creative ways. The students have loved changing events in well-known stories and using their imaginations to put a fresh twist on them. We’ve been focusing on writing stories with a clear orientation, complication, and resolution, while also using exciting and descriptive vocabulary to bring our writing to life.
Mathematics
Our Maths lessons have been full of hands-on learning as we dive into multiplication and division. Using concrete materials and real-life examples, we’ve been learning to group and share effectively. We’re developing a strong understanding that good mathematicians can show their thinking in multiple ways and use different strategies to solve problems.
Science
This term in Science, we’re exploring forces — especially push and pull forces. Through experiments and investigations, we’re discovering how things move and why. A highlight coming up will be designing our very own toy that moves using either a push or a pull force. We can’t wait to see the creative ideas come to life!
HASS
In HASS, we’re learning all about places and why they are important. We’ve explored how places can be personal, local, regional, national, and global, and have had thoughtful discussions about how to care for special and significant places. We’ll soon be working with maps to build our understanding of how places are represented and connected.
It’s been wonderful to see the students engaged, curious, and full of ideas. We look forward to more learning adventures as the term continues!
