What's Happening in 5/6C
It’s been an exciting and creative term in 5/6C as students have been busy becoming expert researchers, writers and digital designers!
This term, our focus has been on creating Multimodal Informative Texts, where students used a combination of images, text and digital tools to share their learning in an engaging way.
Year 5 students explored the mysteries of Space and the Solar System, through their Science and English units, researching planets, moons, and the inventions and discoveries that have helped us learn more about the universe. Their final informative texts included fascinating facts about space technology, missions and what scientists have uncovered about our galaxy.
Year 6 students investigated Natural Disasters through their Science and English units. Each student selected a disaster such as earthquakes, floods, cyclones or bushfires and created a multimodal text that explained its causes, how it changes the Earth’s surface, and how people can prepare and respond. Students also explored the cultural and historical knowledge—such as Indigenous perspectives and traditional understandings—that help communities understand and predict natural events.
Final presentations were informative, creative and showed a deep understanding of the topics. They took the form of interactive PowerPoints, simulated scenarios, and eye-catching posters.
We are incredibly proud of the effort, teamwork and digital skills that our students have shown this term. Their work demonstrates how writing, science and technology can come together to communicate big ideas in meaningful ways.
Fantastic work, 5/6C!
