PBL News
Welcome to Week 9. Our PBL focus for this week is Brain Breaks and why we need them. The idea of a brain break is to ensure that Safe, Respectful and Responsible behaviour continues in learning time, and sometimes play time as well. If we are having a break before things get to much, we are less likely to feel overwhelmed and act in a socially inappropriate way. Younger students may need more brain breaks, because their concentration span is not as great. Older students may need brain breaks in times of stress such as assessment time, these are times when anxiety is heightened, and strategies need to be implemented. This is not a “get out of work” pass, this is to ensure that on task behaviour is at its peak. A Brain break does not require a huge amount of time and there are many different options for different needs.
See the poster for ideas.
