Principal News

Welcome to Week Three of Term Two. In the next few weeks, I will go through the school’s Annual Implementation Plan (AIP). Below is a summary of our AIP. We are in a transition as we move to version 9 of the curriculum. In 2024 we commenced using Version 9 of English and this year we are using Version 9 of Maths. Each year we will transition to each of our eight Learning Areas. Our 2025 School Priority is, “Building an expert teaching team to lead systematic implementation of the Australian Curriculum in English with a focus on reading.”

This is unpacked through four priorities. They are –

  • Data – Use school and student performance data to inform teaching and student learning.
  • Curriculum – Build staff capability in V9 AC English to deliver high quality curriculum with a focus on reading
  • Pedagogy – Build staff capability in using the agreed high-impact whole school pedagogies for
  • Collaborative Capability Development – Development and implementation of agreed collaborative capability development processes

I will unpack each of these in the upcoming newsletters this term.

Bikes and Scooters

A reminder to our whole school community that bikes and scooters are to be walked out of the school grounds and on the foot paths in front of the school. We have over 500 students in our school and it is busy at arrival and departure times. This is for the safety of everyone. Each week students and adults are getting hurt where these rules are not being followed. Please consider others by observing this rule for safety of our whole school community.

RotaKids Update

Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month

Each May, Queensland marks Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month to raise community awareness of domestic and family violence and to send a clear message that such violence will not be tolerated. Calliope staff and students are able to wear purple on Monday 12 May for this cause. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation on this day when wearing purple. This is a RotaKids initiative this year and appreciate your support.
