Principal's Piece

Welcome to Week 3!

It is great to see how our students have settled back into their schooling this term and their excitement as they have commenced their new units of study.

Last week you should have received your child’s report card for Semester One via email and this week, teachers are conducting phone parent/teacher interviews. This is the ideal time to talk with your child’s teacher to get feedback on their learning and share any concerns you may have.

Key things to ask your child’s teacher:

  • What are my child’s interests and strengths?
  • What does my child struggle with?
  • What can I do at home to help my child with schoolwork?
  • What can you tell me about my child’s behaviour in class/ the playground?
  • How is my child getting along with other students?
  • What support services are available for my child at this school?

Social Media ESafety

With a growing amount of people accessing online platforms, it is important that we all know what to do when online to keep ourselves and our children safe. The esafety website has a huge range of resources for parents to use with children. There is also the option to report inappropriate online behaviours- eg: on social media sites etc.

Remember that there are age recommendations for all online social media platforms- Facebook, snapchat, tik tok etc. due to the risks.

As a school, we do not support the use of the online media platforms for primary aged children for the risk it poses and also the flow on effects that inappropriate use has on student wellbeing and lost learning time.

Check out the website for more information https://www.esafety.gov.au/

Congratulations 100 Days of Prep!

We were excited to celebrate 100 days of school with our Prep students last week. Some (particularly their teachers) have aged quickly!

Travel to and from School

We ask that parents who allow their children to travel to and from school by walking or on bikes, scooters etc talk with their children around safe behaviours on the pathways and when crossing roads.

Students on ‘wheels’ are encouraged to wear a helmet, keep to the left of the path and hop off before crossing roads.

Remember it is a parent’s responsibility to supervise your children to and from school, however whilst wearing our uniform students are still representing our school and we can enact our Responsible Behaviour Plan for Students when required.

If you observe unsafe behaviours, you are encouraged to contact the police or the school when our students are involved.

Have a fantastic week and let’s keep up our good health!

Regards
