Principal News
Welcome to Week 7 of Term 2. This week our Year 5 students are at camp. Each year the department hold two meeting days for principals. The first day is hosted by our Regional department and the second day is hosted by our delegates from Brisbane Central Office. These days are being held this week. It is a great opportunity to hear about the latest initiatives within Education Queensland.
Resilience Project
This year Calliope State School has embarked on a journey with The Resilience Project. Wellbeing is vital for successful learning. To be resilient is to have the strategies to manage when adversity happens our way. The ability to practice gratitude, empathy and mindfulness assists with resilience. This is very exciting for our whole community. Students have participated in lessons and watched videos this year to boost their resilience. Teachers have also been working on their own resilience through practicing gratitude, empathy and mindfulness.
On Friday of Week Ten (21 June) we are bringing The Resilience Project to our families. We will have our normal Principal’s Parade, followed by a presentation for all our families on The Resilience Project and how you can be resilient as a family. This will be followed by our open classrooms where you can see Resilience Project lessons in action. Families are then welcome to join your children for a picnic lunch on our grassed area. RotaKids will be running activities based on The Resilience Project in the hall during first break. Please put this day into your calendars.
