P&C News
Hi Everyone,
While we navigate through handover of positions over the coming weeks, we are excited about the year ahead and all it has to offer. As a committee we will ensure that we are open with our communication and transparency to the school community, and we look forward to sharing what the new committee has to offer in 2024.
Congratulations to all the winners of the Easter Raffles!! So many excited faces and amazing Easter bonnet creations which was a delight to see. A big thank you to the Year 5 and 6 students for selling tickets and thank you to all who supported by buying tickets. All our fundraising efforts goes back to the students in supporting there ongoing growth and development.
It was great to see so many families participate in the end of term picnic. A big thanks to all the amazing ladies in the Tuckshop who went above and beyond to make all those yummy burgers and lunches for everyone to enjoy, we can’t wait for the next one.
MOTHER’S DAY STALL

Our first major fundraiser for the year is our annual Mother’s Day Stall. This year there will be Mother’s Day gift packs available to purchase via QKR. More information will be available on our P&C Facebook page so keep your eye out. We will be holding our stall for the students to attend on Wednesday 8th May 2024.
If you are available to lend a hand on the day, please email communications.calliopess@gmail.com
UNIFORM SHOP
The Uniform Shop will be closed Friday 29th March because of the Public Holiday; however it will be open Thursday 28th March 8.30am -9.00am, with payment accepted through QKR. Walk-ins are welcomed.
Uniform orders made on Thursday will be filled the first Friday back from school holidays.
The Uniform Shop are seeking volunteers to assist on Friday mornings to pack and deliver the weekly uniform orders which should not take more than 1 hour – this could be your “ONE thing”.
Without volunteers, we would not be able to provide this service. If you would like more information, please email uniformshop.calliopess@gmail.com
Are you aware that our school offers Breaky Club? What is Breaky Club you ask?
In 2023 QLD government provided funding to 861 identified schools to enhance their food program. Calliope SS was one of them. Breaky Club is operated by lovely volunteers and tuckshop convenor Lisa C.
We are seeking more volunteers who can spare 1 hour of your time in the mornings (Tues – Fri) to set up and serve breakfast.
Tasks – making cereal cups or making healthy breakfast options, pouring milk and juice cups, cutting up fruit and serving all those smiling faces in the morning.
Breaky Club is open from 8.35- 9am
VOLUNTEER MANDATORY TRAINING
Completing your Volunteer mandatory training has got a lot easier. We are aware we all live busy lives and unable to commit to a particular day and time to complete the training onsite. You are now able to complete the training in the comfort of your own home and on your own schedule.
All you need to do is click on the link, read the key messages guide, complete the declaration and submit in person to the school office.
When you sign in as a volunteer via the Ipad, you are declaring you are aware of your obligations as per the key messages guide. This is valid for 12 months.
For further information or a copy of the key messages guide please email communications.calliopess@gmail.com.
The new committee would love to hear from you, so please feel free to email your feedback and suggestions to pandc@calliopess.eq.edu.au.
Wishing you a safe and happy Easter
