2020 Premier's Reading Challenge!
All students at Calliope State School are once again participating in The Premier’s Reading Challenge. The Premier's Reading Challenge is an annual statewide initiative for Queensland schools. The Premier's Reading Challenge aims to improve literacy and encourage children to read for pleasure and learning.
To participate, students need to read books and record the titles on a record sheet, which is being kept at school. Students can record all books that are read at school. Teachers will assist students in filling out their record sheet.
Once a student’s record sheet is filled, their name will be entered into a lucky draw. Once a week, starting in Week 6 for Prep and Year 1 and Week 7 for Years 2- 6, a random draw will be held and the lucky students will win a book.
Reading is such an amazing way to expose children to new vocabulary and having them form opinions about topics. Please try to read to/with your child every day.
