Hi everyone! As we hurtle towards the end of Semester One; there is plenty going on around our school!

We had a wonderful and productive P&C meeting last night. Some topics discussed include:

• Excursions coming up and how the P&C can financially assist with these, usually in the form of contributing to bus costs.
• Different fundraisers that are in the planning stages, including Pie Drive and Father’s Day Stall.
• We are trying to improve our ‘Containers for Change’ processes which includes some new bins for inside the school grounds. If families wish to take their donations directly to Containers for Change Calliope our Scheme ID is C10002245. Perhaps you only want to donate some of your stash? Every little bit helps us help the students!
• The Leadership team and the P&C collaborated on the Term 3 Events Calendar and had some laughs doing it!!

A big shout out goes to our school’s AMAZING Support Staff! These people include our cleaners, office staff, grounds keeper and school technician!! They all do such a wonderful job in their respective roles to support our teaching staff to provide a quality educational experience to our students! What a great team we have in Calliope!

If you have an Instrumental Music student; how wonderful it will be to see them perform at Calliope SHS in a collaborative showcase with the high schoolers tomorrow night!

Next Monday is Under 8’s morning! If you will be along with your Prep-2 student, Kindy friend and/or younger siblings; we will see you there! Keep an eye out for us; we will have a special guest with us too!!

Did you know this year the P&C created a Communications Officer role? The intention of this is to have a single entity across as many aspects of the school happenings as possible to enable accurate and consistent communication across the whole school community. This year we have Kristen Bailey in this role. Kristen is in her 10th and final year as a parent at Calliope SS. She has been volunteering in classrooms since 2014 and anyone who knows her knows she is passionate about communication! In this role, Kristen is responsible for attending meetings (PBL and P&C) and serving as a liaison to ensure consistencies in communication that is sent out to the school community. Kristen also assists the P&C executive team with the weekly newsletter submissions and Facebook updates.
