Principal's Piece

WELCOME BACK!

Our staff are all very excited to have all our students back with us.  Yesterday was a huge success with all adapting to our new processes.  It was great to see all our students excited to see their teachers and their friends again.

Arriving at and Leaving School
Thank-you to all our parents for your patience as we assisted over 600 students leave school yesterday with our new processes.  We were done and dusted by 3:33pm on
Day 1 of having everyone back!  AMAZING!
Thank you!.jpg
Our walkers (including those walking independently to cars) and our bike/scooter riders will be held back slightly to allow the gates to clear (STOP/DROP/GO and the parent at gate pickups).  Thanks again – just another example of how amazing the Calliope State School Community is.

Just a reminder for our parents to practise social distancing of 1.5m, particularly around our gates.  Please move off as soon as you have collected your child.  We thank-you for understanding that parents are not entering our school grounds.  Should you need to speak with us for any reason, please either call or use the service window located at the office.

Reporting

In line with the modified schooling for this term, we share the following information about assessment and reporting. Be assured that students will only be assessed on units of work that they have been taught and completed at school.

Reporting.jpg

This semester students will be assessed on the following subject areas:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Health and Physical Education
  • Music

Students in Years 1-6 will receive a level of achievement grade and commentary to match what they have learnt in the semester and a future focus. Prep students will only receive commentary on their learning.

No behaviour or effort marks will be included.

Teachers will be using results from Term 1 and short units of study in the above subject areas when students return to school.

Reports will be sent home, in early Term 3 via email, with parent-teacher interviews offered after these.

Feedback

We are always open to feedback as this helps our school to continuously grow and improve.  There are many appropriate ways to provide feedback to our school and we appreciate the time and effort people have taken to ensure they are using these avenues.  At the moment we have modified some of our avenues for providing feedback.  The most effective way in this present situation is to email our admin@calliopess.eq.edu.au email address or via a phone call.

Kindest Regards
