This Friday 5 September is a Student Free Day for all Queensland state schools. Students do not attend school on this day.
Teacher Aide Appreciation Week
This week we celebrate all our wonderful teacher aides who work in our school with our students.
Teacher aides play a vital role in supporting both students and teachers every day. They work alongside classroom teachers to provide additional learning support, assist with individual student needs, and help create an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment for all. Their dedication, patience, and care make a real difference in the lives of our students.
We are very fortunate to have such committed and compassionate teacher aides at our school. Whether it’s helping a child master a new skill, supporting small group learning, preparing resources, or simply being a friendly and reassuring presence, our teacher aides go above and beyond to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed.
We encourage you to join us this week in showing appreciation for their hard work and kindness. A smile, a thank you, or a kind word can mean so much.
On behalf of our school community, we extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful teacher aides. We truly value and appreciate everything you do.
Calliope Sporting Stars Alert
A huge congratulations to Tane and Kai who recently travelled to Mackay to compete in the Capricornia trials!
- Tane has qualified for 100m relay and long jump
- Kai has qualified for the 100m relay
Both boys will now represent at the State Track and Field Championships in Townsville this October!
Your school community is so proud of you — go get 'em, boys!
On Friday, Calliope State School proudly took three teams to the Port Curtis Interschool Netball Gala Day! With many girls playing in their first ever carnival, it was an exciting day full of learning, teamwork, and FUN!
Our students showed incredible spirit, sportsmanship, and determination — we’re so proud of every single player who stepped onto the court!
A special thank you to our amazing Coaches and Umpires - Laura, Isla, Mrs Betts and Miss Izzy for taking the teams and supporting the girls on the day!
PBL Focus – Playtime Expectations
This week our PBL focus is all about playtime. Students are learning the difference between what we can do at playtime and what we want to do at playtime. By exploring these choices, students are encouraged to make safe, fair, and respectful decisions that ensure everyone can enjoy their break times. Whether it’s playing games, joining in with friends, or finding quiet spaces to recharge, we are reminding students that positive play choices help keep our playground safe, fun, and welcoming for all.
G.E.M. Focus – Gratitude
This week, our Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness (G.E.M.) focus is on gratitude. Students have been asked to reflect on their school and identify three great things they are thankful for. By focusing on the positives, students learn to appreciate the people, places, and opportunities that make their school community special. Practising gratitude not only builds happiness but also helps create a stronger sense of belonging and connection at school.
Whole Class Stamp Charts
Congratulations to 1B, 3B and 5B for completing their Whole Class Stamp Charts by the end of Week 7!
Your hard work and teamwork have helped bring our school total to 18 completed charts. What an incredible effort from everyone – let’s keep the momentum going towards our next celebration!
Watch this space for our growing tally.
The Biggest Catch
This week in the biggest catch, 2B, Prep B, 5A, 5B and 1B have filled the most Individual Stamp Charts. Congratulations!!!
It’s our way of celebrating how many individual stamp charts each class completes.
Think of each filled chart as a part of a fish—the more completed charts, the bigger the fish will be.
At Calliope State School we all swim together.
